Neury Thursday: Primate Retinotopy

In this week’s Journal of Neuroscience, researchers have crafted a 3D representation of the brain, accentuating gyri and sulci; the bumps and grooves of the cortex, respectively. The magnetic resonance image integrates functional anatomical areas of a human and macque (primate) brain, illustrating striking neuroanatomical and functional similarities (in this case, the integration of visual stimuli) between primate brains. For more insight on this phenomenon, characterized as retinotopy, here’s the article.
